For Minnesotans, the common loon (Gavia immer) is the heart and soul of our state. When we think of being on a lake up north, the loon is on the forefront of everyone's mind. Their striking beauty and haunting calls are longed for during the long winter months. I find no greater peace than listening to the echo of their tremolo and yodel carry across the lake as the sunsets. The following portfolio has been created over the last decade, entirely in Minnesota. My obsession with loons is borderline unhealthy, so this gallery will continually change as new work is produced.
