Once in a Lifetime

I have spent hundreds of hours over the last decade photographing great gray owls (Strix nebulosa). Just when I thought I could no longer upstage my portfolio I was given a remarkable scenario. I awoke on this morning to find everything covered in hoar frost. I made my way to this remote location, hoping there would be an owl and that the wind and sun would keep at bay, and not ruin the frost. I had not been to this location before, so I had no idea what to expect. Upon arriving I found an owl immediately, and then another, and another, and eventually five in total. Through the course of this entire day I spent no more than 10 minutes without a bird in view. I had been photographing this particular owl for about a half hour when it decided to head to a stand of red pines (Pinus resinosa) covered in frost. It sat their briefly, but I was able to grab a few frames of this gorgeous scene. Northern Minnesota.

This is a limited edition print. Only 250 will be produced. Certificate of authenticity is sent with each piece.

All Museum Quality Prints are printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl myself using an Epson SureColor P9000 in my studio. Both options offer a clean modern appearance to the artwork, which looks as if it's floating off the wall with the included hanging hardware. The Metal prints are lightweight, durable and have a HD glossy finish that come ready to hang via float hanger attached to the back of the piece. The Acrylic prints are lustre fine-art paper mounted to 1/4" thick glossy acrylic with di-bond backing and a cleat hanger.
