I have spent hundreds of hours over the last decade photographing great gray owls (Strix nebulosa). Just when I thought I could no longer upstage my portfolio I was given a remarkable scenario. I awoke on this morning to find everything covered in hoar frost. I made my way to this remote location, hoping there would be an owl and that the wind and sun would keep at bay, and not ruin the frost. I had not been to this location before, so I had no idea what to expect. Upon arriving I found an owl immediately, and then another, and another, and eventually five in total. Through the course of this entire day I spent no more than 10 minutes without a bird in view. I had been photographing this particular owl for about a half hour when it decided to head to a stand of red pines (Pinus resinosa) covered in frost. It sat their briefly, but I was able to grab a few frames of this gorgeous scene. Northern Minnesota.

The Metal and Acrylic options are printed by one of the industry's best labs. Both options offer a clean modern appearance to the artwork, which looks as if it's floating off the wall with the included hanging hardware. The Metal prints are lightweight, durable and have a HD glossy finish that come ready to hang via float hanger attached to the back of the piece. The Acrylic prints are lustre fine-art paper mounted to 1/4" thick glossy acrylic with di-bond backing and a cleat hanger.
